6.4.20 - Slavery and Confederate Independence

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to check to see if the concept of slavery is mentioned in the Confederate declaration of independence. We all know that slavery was a primary reason for secession, and that a lot of state constitutions make their belief in white supremacy comically (painfully) clear, but I didn't know if those ideas were contained in the founding Confederate document.

After all, the American Declaration is a very high-minded document about self-governance and the impossibility of monarchy delivering the equal rights of man. Maybe the CSA also glossed over their material aims?

Turns out slavery is not only in this fucking document but is literally the only issue they mention. The argument is simply: Look, we signed the Constitution only because you included provisions like Article 4 Section 3, which explicitly permits slavery. We can't stay in this country without that clause. Now that "non-slaveholding states" are not honoring that compact, and moreover due to the election of a president "whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery," (!!) then "the slaveholding States will no longer have the power of self-government" and need to secede.

Just funny to see retards on Facebook still not understanding this. I mean it just could not be any clearer. This is who we need to share a country with. blech
